🎲 THURSDAY 2/11: Ludic Liberation Lab ~ FAILING AT GENDER w/Indigo Esmonde 🎲
how might we win by failing at gender?
Dear Ludic Liberators,
Of all the games society imposes on us, the gender binary is one of the most oppressive and limiting. Its strict rules declare how we must talk, dress, express feelings, and even what we're allowed to desire. The game of gender is like the pesky iPhone Auto-Correct feature, constantly assuming what we're trying to communicate (and getting it WRONG!), having never asked us if we want the function to be enabled in the first place 😠 .
Trying to win at gender feels like running on a boring and exhausting hamster wheel. On the other hand, intentionally failing at gender can open up infinite possibilities for self-expression and other-relation 🤡🤖🤠👽☃🧚♂️🧜♂️.
What might happen if we turned off the "auto-correct" and stopped trying to always make sense?
This month at Ludic Liberation Lab, our Primary Investigator (PI) will be Indigo Esmonde – Daydream Artist and Headmaster at "The School of Faliure" (see http://daydreamsandassociates.com for more information about how you can enroll today!). Indigo will lead us in games that invite players to joyfully, gloriously FAIL at gender. Everyone who joins is guaranteed to receive an F+ for participation.
