🎲 THURSDAY 3/11: Ludic Liberation Lab ~ BODY LANGUAGE w/ Thirdspace Somatics
what games do our bodies play?
Dear Ludic Liberators,
Our bodies are antennas. We are constantly signalling to each other and picking up signals from each other – often without any "conscious" awareness of what we are communicating and receiving. Right under our own noses, our bodies play secret games with other bodies – games of seduction and rejection, imitation and intimidation. They speak even when we are silent, revealing our hidden secrets, and keep records of past conversations stored deep in our flesh.
What might we reveal by becoming aware of the games our bodies play?
This month at Ludic Liberation Lab, we will explore Body Language and experiment with gesture, movement, and expression by integrating methods from Theatre of the Oppressed and generative somatics. We'll play games, move around together, and deepen our awareness of the habitual, cultural, and somatic ways we have learned to see, interpret, and express.
Our Principal Investigator will be Zoë (she/her), a somatic practitioner living in Philadelphia. Zoë works as a somatic coach, bodyworker, group facilitator, and artist/researcher. Her work is centered around queer embodiment, dismantling white supremacy, and reshaping social norms. She has an MA in Embodiment Studies and is life-long learning through the Strozzi Institute and generative somatics.
