THURSDAY 11/09 ~ Ludic Liberation Lab: SHADOW GAMES
How are you tricking yourself?
Dear Ludic Liberators,
Welcome to the Dark Season (in the northern hemisphere!). After last month’s manipulation games, I am eager to keep uncovering the twisty ways we manipulate ourselves — so that we could more consciously decide whether to Reward, Revise, or Refuse our secret games.
Join the Lab to learn the original Ludic Liberation method of "Existential Game Analysis" designed to help you reveal an existential game you play with yourself and explore ways to make it more liberating! We will focus on deconstructing games created by our "Shadow" parts — parts that we hide from ourselves because we might consider them unacceptable, difficult to love. Our shadow is like an emotional blindspot that lurks beneath our conscious awareness. Its invisibility gives it unparalleled power to trick us! And it does — we are puppets to our own shadows!
C.G. Jung, who introduced the concept of the shadow in psychology, said: “Everyone carries a shadow, and the less it is embodied in the individual’s conscious life, the blacker and denser it is. At all counts, it forms an unconscious snag, thwarting our most well-meant intentions.”
Are you willing to shine a light on the tricky twists that your shadow has designed for you? Will you want to make your personal existential game “lighter”? Or perhaps just appreciate your own mischievous mind? Join the lab to find out!
(This lab will not be recorded or “analyzed” for the lab report!)
